Design News: Johnson & Johnson changed their logo after more than 100 years!
If you were not aware of it, Johnson & Johnson, the popular healthcare products company have merged their medtech and pharmaceutical segments and switched from a Script type to a Sans Serif type logo! Let's understand this design change,
1. The original logo was based on James Wood Johnson's signature. It is a completely custom typeface which was not been changed since 1887, that's more than 130 years!
2. Laura Res, the marketing consultant, says that many people recognized the signature, but they weren't necessarily reading it. The new logo makes it easier to process and read.
3. While the original Hue of Red remains the same, it has been slightly more saturated.
4. The new logo consists of a simple yet recognizable Sans Serif typeface that is custom-made.
5. The logo hasn't been completely rolled out commercially, and we are yet to see how the packaging and other elements will come up with this new design.
