Roots of Programmatic Advertising Ecosystem: SSP and DSP concepts...
Demand-side platforms (DSP) & Supply-side platforms (SSP) are the building blocks of advertising technology. All those platforms might feel similar, but they are not.
Let us start off with some key differences between SSP and DSP, and where they fit in the programmatic advertising ecosystem.
SSP (Supply-Side Platform): SSP is a technology platform used by publishers to manage and optimize the sale of their digital advertising inventory. It connects publishers with multiple demand sources, such as advertisers and DSPs, to maximize ad revenue and streamline the selling process.
DSP (Demand-Side Platform): DSP is a technology platform used by advertisers and agencies to programmatically purchase and manage digital advertising inventory. It enables them to target specific audiences, bid on ad impressions in real-time auctions, and optimize their ad campaigns across various publishers and ad exchanges
